Mathematics Questions?

From my regents practice exams, answer and explain for best answer:

1. Which interval notation represents the set of all numbers from 2 through 7, inclusive?

a. (2,7]

b. (2,7)

c. [2,7)

d. [2,7]

2. Which property is illustrated by the equation ax+ay= a (x+y)?

a. associative

b. commutative

c. distributive

d. identity

3. Which situation describes a correlation that is not a casual relationship?

a. The rooster crows, and the Sun rises.

b. The more miles driven, the more gasoline needed.

c. The more powerful the microwave, the faster the food cooks.

d. The faster the pace of a runner, the quicker the runner finishes.

4. Given:

Set A = {(-2, -1), (-1, 0), (1,8)}

Set B = {(-3,-4), (-2,-1), (-1,2), (1,8)}.

What is the intersection of sets A and B?

a. {(1,8)}

b.{(-2,-1)}

c.{(-2,-1), (1,8)}

d. {(-3,-4), (-2,-1), (-1,2), (-1,0), (1,8)}

5. What is an equation for the line that passes through the coordinates (2,0) and (0,3)?

a. y= -3/2x+3

b. y= -3/2x-3

c. y= -2/3x+2

d. y=-2/3x-2

6. Which situation should be analyzed using bivariate data?

a. Ms. Saleem keeps a list of the amount of time her daughter spends on her social studies homework.

b. Mr. Benjamin tries to see if his students' shoe sizes are directly related to their heights.

c. Mr. DeStefan records his customers' best video game scores during the summer.

d. Mr. Chan keeps track of his daughter's algebra grades for the quarter.

7. Solve the following system of equations graphically:

y= x^2-6x+5

2x+y=5Mathematics Questions?
1) the answer is d because ()'s mean the number is not included. []'s mean it is. and since you want the number to be included, you need the brackets.

2) the answer is c because they both have an a in common so youre distributing the a out.

3) no idea

4) the answer is c because in both sets, those answers both appear.

5) the answer is a. just graph the answers and see which graph includes the point.

6) the answer is b because all the other ones are just a set of one thing. b you have to keep track of shoe size and height. its a direct relation question.

7) solve for y on the second problem so you get y= 5-2x and plug that into y on the top equation to get... 5-2x= x^2-6x+5. solve for x to get..

x= 0 and 4

go back to the bottom equation and plug one in at a time to get the y values.

y= -3 and 5Mathematics Questions?
